Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a common and of- ten fatal clinical syndrome in dogs characterized by cardiac dysfunction, neurohormonal activation, sodium and water retention, and increase in left ventricular (LV) filling pressures (LVFP).1,2 It occurs most often second- ary to degenerative mitral valve disease (MVD)3–5 and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).
